Magna Grecia

Magna Grecia

A short drive through picturesque villages (where there has not been much tourism development, so they are still quite authentic) surrounding Katakolon brings you to Agriturismo Magna Grecia, in the heart of a traditional agricultural region. Magna Grecia, which means Great Greece, is a family owned farm in a suburb location close to Ancient Olympia.

Guests have the opportunity to enjoy a taste of Greece when they sample the virgin olive oil and olives and the wine that produced locally.

“Olives and wine are not just commodities. They represent the spirit of Greece itself”, says Dimitris Karambelas, who opened Agriturismo Magna Grecia to share his passion with the world.

Dimitris Karambelas continues the tradition of his family, which has nurtured olive groves and vineyards for a century. “We hope,” he says, “that Agriturismo Magna Grecia will provide fertile ground not only for those who love the flavors of wine and oil, but also for visitors who are looking for something more during their visit to Ancient Olympia.”

A visit to Agriturismo Magna Grecia offers up a feast for the senses as visitors have the opportunity to learn the history of the olive tree and how the olives are harvested, wonder around the vineyards and participate in the “adventure” of wine, from vine to glass.

Visitors also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the delicious and authentic flavors of Greek cuisine by sampling a variety of appetizer dishes like feta cheese, traditional sausage with orange, tzatziki and of course olives, try the famous Ouzo, an anise-flavored aperitif and enjoy and why not join in the traditional Greek dance Sirtaki.

There is also a gift shop that sells unique jewelry as well as local products such as olives, olive oil, wine, etc.
